2009 Christmas SPCA Bequest Luncheon

width=300The spirt of Christmas filled the Vineyard Hotel in Newlands on Tuesday 8 December at the CoGH SPCA’s annual Bequest Society and Donor Recognition lunch.

The event was a resounding success and we were so pleased to receive so many positive comments following a thoroughly enjoyable and entertaining afternoon

SPCA Bequest Society member Mrs Audrey Meyersfeld who celebrated her 92nd birthday in September received extra-special attention from our celebrated MC Mr Alvon Collison; who paid tribute to this very special lady.

Speaking at the lunch Bequest and Major Donor Officer Carol-Anne Brand said:  “Being invited into the homes of our Bequest Society members is a privilege and I am in awe of the trust that our members place in us to look after and grow the investment they have left to us”.

Donor appreciation certificates were presented to selected corporate and individual donors in recognition of their ongoing support.  The recipients included the SA Cake Decorators Guild; Feel Good Health (PetAlive); attorneys Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr Inc and Kellerman Hendrikse Binedell; The Western Province Owners and Trainers Association; ACSA Cape Town International Airport; TFD Network; Nola Foods and Mr and Dr Schuurmans-Stekhoven.

The Cape Town Ballet Company put on a show-stopping performance which brought the SPCA guests to their feet in rapturous applause.  Their perfectly performed captivating dance had guests mesmerized and gasping for more. The ballet dancers’ tribute to the late pop idol Michael Jackson showed their versatility and gave everyone a new appreciation for the art of dance and ballet in particular.

In her note of thanks Mrs. Jutta Fitzmaurice wrote:”Just a note to say what an enjoyable luncheon party you gave on Tuesday.  Very good food and excellent entertainment.  My dogs enjoyed the treats in the goody bag!  Keep up the good work and may all at the SPCA have a peaceful and blessed Christmas.”

Mrs. Susan Brouwez had this to say: “Every time I attend a bequest lunch it is so enjoyable and seems to get better and better.  This time it really was outstanding with very tasty food; excellent entertainment and the opportunity of being part of something so special.”

The special day would not have been possible without the support and generosity of the following companies trusts and individuals:-

The Willmott Trust ; The Vineyard Hotel ; Congress Rental South Africa
Honey Jewellery; Bokomo Foods; Doodles Beachfront Restaurant
Clifton Paper Products and Packaging; Caxton Magazines; Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens ;
SA Cake Decorators Guild – Fish Hoek; Cape Town City Ballet
Ivodent; Bartenders Workshop; Jack’s Superette; Rear ADM Higgs Flag Officer Fleet – SA Navy; WO” C.V Brand – SA Navy; Nederburg Wines; Pelican Pictures; SmashBox Cosmetics

Special thanks to Alvon Collison Cape Town City Ballet and Professor Elizabeth Triegaardt
