COGH SPCA response to concerns raised re NSPCA enquiryThe Cape of Good Hope (COGH) SPCA – like all 90 SPCAs in South Africa – operates autonomously. Each SPCA is governed by its own board of directors. The NSPCA is a national body that provides a regulatory function to all SPCAs in terms of the SPCA Act and provides various other services
The Board and CEO of the COGH SPCA are aware that concerns have been raised in connection with the NSPCA and its management and have provided input in relation to those concerns. We have been assured that concerns raised are being addressed and dealt with by the NSPCA Board.
We hope that this issue will not deter attention from the good work done by the Cape of Good Hope SPCA and other SPCAs around the country which are dedicated to the prevention of animal abuse the care of homeless pets and the treatment of sick and injured animals. The COGH SPCA – the largest and oldest SPCA in South Africa – operates a veterinary hospital mobile animal clinics to disadvantaged communities a large inspectorate team dedicated wildlife and horse care units and an animal care centre which reunites owners with lost pets and adopts hundreds of animals to loving new homes.
